Homecoming Weekend

3
October

Hi out there!

What a busy week I’ve had! Sorry that it has taken me this long to get back on here. The Homecoming Game (we won!) and Dance was this weekend, so there was so much going on! It was a lot of fun though. :) As much as I don’t like dancing, I still managed to “let go” a bit and enjoyed myself with my friends and my boyfriend. My shoes were a success! I got these nice black dress sandals with no heel that had ankle straps. Couldn’t be more perfect because they are casual enough to wear with a fashionable outfit :) The theme was, “There’s no place like Homecoming” based off of the Wizard of Oz, so everything was decorated like Emerald City and the Yellowbrick Road..so cute!

I’m always bad at taking pictures because I forget, but here are a few!

And then somehow I was able to wake up after a long night and go for a nice hike with the gym crew. We ended up doing a 4- mile loop in a beautiful park in Irvine. It felt so good, but of course I fell! I am always guaranteed a fall every now and then haha. I tripped over a root and got a few scratches and jammed my thumb. It is nothing I can’t handle though. :p Cassidy (the lil one with CP) and I must’ve taken diff route because we only saw each other toward the end as we were leaving! I was looking forward to another hike with her, but there’s always next week! :) I’ll take some pics, because this next one is gorgeous and who doesn’t like a good visual! I was glad that I got a nice 2 hour nap in later in the afternoon, but now I am wide awake! Ahh well that’s what books and writing on TCP and in my journal is for.

I hope you’ve all had a nice weekend! Happy October, can you believe it? Geesh time flys. We just decorated our house for Fall and Halloween, I love Holidays!! Any Halloween costume ideas?? My friends want to be superheros, but I am open to ideas! :D

Talk soon.

Meeting another Teen (well almost a teen) CP’er!

26
September

Hello!

I hope you’ve all had an eventful weekend, I know I have! I seriously believe that we are experiencing a heat wave out here! Today it was probably in the 90′s, luckily I was able to hit the beach to relax and cool off in the water. But wow, what a weekend with this weather.

I am soo excited to say that I got to meet up with Cassidy! She is my elementary school teacher’s daughter who is 10 and has CP as well. We went on a nice hike/walk near the beach today with a big group of people associated with my parents gym, and it was so much fun (and incredibly hot!!) Cassidy and I were both noticing that having this blog is a really big eye- opener, as we are realizing how many people around us have CP, or know someone who has it.

Cassidy, I loved being able to get to know you! It was so great talking to you about having CP and what it is like running and playing sports. I love that you read my blog so often, and I am so glad we are friends. :) We will always share CP as our special bond :) You are such an inspiration to me, because I see how well you walk! It makes me want to take stretching more seriously so I can walk just as well as you do. I think it is so cool how you are reading buddies with the little girl who has CP and uses a walker. I know she looks up to you! I can’t wait to see you next week so we can hike together again. We need a pic next time so I can post it on here, okay!? Have a great week at school. :)

Gotta run, homework time & then SLEEP.

Push-ups & Hills

11
April

Hey Everyone!

Wow what a nice week off from school, although I didn’t have school I still felt busy with hittin’ the gym (and the beach of course ;p almost every day!) Actually, we had a great charity event just yesterday at our gym, I’ve mentioned it before…it was lots of fun! We raised a few thousand dollars for The Wounded Warriors Project by hosting a 90 second push up competition! We had many generous sponsorships and donations, and I can’t wait to get some pics up. Somehow, I was able to knock out 67 push-ups in 90 seconds and raise a few hundred dollars by doing so, so I am pretty stoked! My left arm was about to break off though, it was pretty funny… I tried not to laugh once my muscles were dead haha.

We did a very ambitious hike this morning as well through Peter’s Canyon in Irvine not too far from here. It had such gorgeous views of new homes and crevices in the land…but unfortunately I forgot my camera!! I was super bummed, but hopefully I can manage to get a few pics from others that went along. There were three majorly steep hills that I just about passed out on! My ankle is a little sore, but my dad noticed I am walking better–and coming from him that’s definitely a plus! Sometimes I worry that I won’t be able to do hikes like this, but I can really only take everything day by day.  There’s no use in worrying about something that’s either unpreventable, or years and years away.

Well thanks for the chat guys, but I have to hit the books before school in the morning ….which I am dreading terribly so.  Hope you had a great spring break and are all staying healthy! :) Pics will be coming eventually, so stay tuned.

A New Hike

31
January

Hey all,

Hope your weekend is off to a fantastic start! I know mine is, now that finals are over I can finally relax! I think I did pretty well on them too. :)

Anyways, I am going on this great hike on Monday since it is a student free day, yay! I got a few friends together for what I hope will be a great adventure! It is a new place called Trabuco Canyon about a half hour away, I am anxious to scope it out! It is supposedly a gorgeous place with waterfalls and rocks and cool trails. I’ll let you know asap how it went. I feel prepared for it, physically so I am happy about that. It is nothing harder than what I am used to. Except my foot is a bit swollen. Probably still recovering from being closed up for so long. Nothing a little time wont fix. Gonna stretch like crazy before this hike so I am ready as I can be!

Hope youre all having a great weekend, talk to you soon!

The hike was…

10
January

Not me in the pic, but I loved this view!

strenuous, adventurous, fun, refreshing!

It was about a 4 mile, very hilly trail off the Newport Coast in a beautiful, secluded canyon. It was a great workout, but boy the hills just about kill my legs. I felt super weak about the whole way through…my ankle always is a little tweaked from trying to run/walk up and down the hills…I am sure it’s not good for me, but hey, I like the feeling of accomplishment. Haha it’s empowering to say the least. I convince myself that its not that bad, but then when I am actually in it I say to myself, “you do this everytime you know this is probably not the best work out for you right now.” But I just always push myself  and I recover soon enough from muscle fatigue and all that. For now anyway… I’ll talk with the doctor Monday and see what his take is on that.

It was so cute, I went with my sisters and a friend and my little sister who is 13 rocked it! Almost ran the whole way through…she is on the gold all-star team in AYSO soccer, she makes me proud ;) Speaking of soccer, I think I am going to try to play spring soccer! I am soo excited, yet a little apprehensive since my body is not really physically fit for sports and such, but I just love it so I might as well play while I can. Hmm I might change my mind a million times before sign ups but for now I just love the thought of getting back out there with the girls I’ve played with for years. Yayy :)

Tomorrow my day will consist of sleeping in, homework, and possibly a run with my friend who is  here from France. :) Sunday’s are the best day to just prep for the week.

How are all you guys holding up with school and physical therapy or working out? I’m interested to know if some of you teens out there have a workout regime, or do anything specific to stay active and well.

Also quick note– It takes a bit of cash to keep this site running, and I’d like to keep it going as long as possible- it’d be fun to see where it takes us all! So I had this idea to put in a small donation box down on the bottom right column specifically for anyone who is feeling charitable and would like for me to keep this site up. Any extra proceeds will go to a CP fund of some sort most likely, I have yet to decide any details. I personally am not looking to profit from this, as I enjoy writing and talking to all you TCPers and parents! It has been a fun journey–almost half a year now! Thanks to everyone who stays interested, and Greg who keeps this site alive and running!  :) Go TCP!!

Talk to you all soon.

School, weekend..all that good stuff!

9
January

Hey Everyone!

How’s life going for you all? It’s been pretty fast pace for me this week since I just got back from winter break! It was nice to have the time off, but it is also nice to just get back in the swing of things….I like to keep myself busy :) Ah, but finals are a short three weeks away! Yikes! Major study sessions are on my agenda for sure.

On Monday I have  my doctor appointment to see if  I should need to get  a cast back on. It would be a pain in the butt to have to go through yet another cast, but it’s only for two weeks and I just think I need to suck it up and finish what I started ya know? I’ve been wearing my brace nightly, so hopefully I haven’t regressed.

Tomorrow I am going on my first hike in a long time, I’m excited because it will be a beautiful day out here. :) I am also curious to see if I will notice any improvement from my 4 weeks of previous casting and brace wearing. So far I have yet to notice a difference, but who knows… maybe I just didn’t expect it to feel this way. I was a little weaker when I got my cast off immediately, but that was expected. I’m just trying to stay positive throughout this whole thing..because it definitely is a process!

Stay cool TCPers…and all you parents too…you are awesome…keep up everything :)

Happy weekend! :)
