Hi TCP friends!
This week has flown by, I cannot believe tomorrow is Friday! TGIF, am I right?! I hope you all have something fun planned this weekend, even if fun means sleeping in and doing absolutely nothing!! That counts for a fun day in my mind! Haha, I don’t know about you all, but I could use one of those days. ;p
My parents are hosting what we call “The Takedown Challenge Finale” party this Saturday, it should be so fun! For those of you who don’t know, my parents own small, local personal training gyms….and so, the Takedown Challenge is basically our very own ”Biggest Loser” type competition that lasts for six weeks. My parents basically run it all, it’s so fun! We do it twice a year, and there are prizes, bootcamps, weekly menus, the whole sha-bang! It really gets people into a healthier, happier lifestyle, and 10+ pounds lighter! If you’re curious to know more, take a peek at www.tspot.org
You can see what I surround myself with on a daily basis, it is so fun! I am doing our bootcamp Saturday morning, it’s awesome, I love anything that gets my blood flowing. That’s why I find Bonner’s climb (see last post) so inspiring! I find physical challenges so tough, yet so fun because I feel so accomplished afterwards! Even after a long walk, or a bike ride– anything to stay fit.
Although physical activities are frustrating for the majority of us at times, I hope that there are those moments when (rare or not) you feel like you’ve crossed that bridge headed towards something greater than ever. If that means you walked on that treadmill by yourself for the first time, or you climbed a mountain, or even if you just learned how to ride a bicycle- you know that feeling, and that feeling is something irreplaceable. So whether you are feeling down, or just plain helpless, go back to that time and remember how you felt that one day when you accomplished something superb. And it has to be by your own standards- no one else’s expectations, no one but you can get in the way of reaching that heightened sense of achievement and optimism. You can surpass any goal you set for yourself. This year my goal was not only to become more flexible and mobile, as one hopes for with Cerebral Palsy, but I strive to be more confident and secure with myself. My confidence has been a struggle for me these past years in high school, but I find myself more and more comfortable with who I am becoming day by day. I know that a day will come soon when I will be completely at ease with accepting myself, and until then, I just try to have fun in these last two years of high school and keep that goal in mind!
I also have to give credit to all the musicians out there who keep me positive throughout my not- so- positive days. Soulful, meaningful lyrics accompanied by acoustics and piano make my day all the more special and less stressful! I’m in the middle of learning the key-board so I can put rhythm to my poetry, talk about patience, patience!! But so fun! Do you have any special ties to music or intruments? Talk, I’m so into this new hobby of mine!
Music, I love you & thank you! Haha, I think that about sums it up.
Have a fantastic weekend, I know I will!
Stay happy and healthy all
