Billie,

It was so nice meeting you, your husband and your girls. They are so cute!! :) I plan on studying journalism/ creative writing in college. Who knows? Maybe I'll end up writing about having CP, or simply a fun young adult series! Thank you for all your wonderful compliments! I will check out your site right now.
Stay well, you are raising two beautiful daughters!

Sorry for the late response! I got a little side tracked... Anyway, Adelaide--

Ahh yes corn chips of course....but nothing tops a warm flour tortilla! And margaritas (virgin ones) are a little too sugary for my taste! Haha although I'm a fan of diet coke anyday.
Luckily for us, we have an avocado tree in my backyard!! Its very helpful. :)
Thanks for all the great reading suggestions, I will be sure to check that out.

Grand Rapids was the airport we flew into, but we have family about 45 min outside of GR in a little town called Holland. That is where we stayed for the two weeks, it is a beautiful place.

Karen, welcome! I would love to visit Australia one day, any beachtown is the place to be! :)

Glad you're having a great time.

There are icons and visions. And Chitown is just a very busy city!

Thanks for the great Mexican description.

(I prefer salsa, at least the tomato/chili type. Gucamole is great, but pretty rare: at least at my place. I'm tied up between tacos and burritos as a favourite, but fajitas are really wonderful. And what about the margarita!).

Chips = corn chips?

Before you check out My left foot, read this:

Me, Thyself and I: Authenicity and Autonomy in My Left Foot and I Raise My Eyes to Say Yes.

And better yet, here is the writer's PhD:

https://lra.le.ac.uk/bitstream/2381/3958/1/2008coogantaphd.pdf

(The latter was written by Ruth Sienciewicz-Miller, who died some 20 years ago, and advocated for the Independent Living Movement before there was an American Disability Act, which your post crossed).

(And if you've read 19th century letters, the "crossing" term will make sense. Cassandra and Jane Austen would write and write to each other).

(I first encountered Coogan's work some three years ago now: November 2007).

Thank you!
Mexican fiestas at my house is just a bunch of friends, some great tacos, burritos, chips and salsa (guacamole of course) and a great fire pit to sit around and talk.
Wow, I should really check out that book...it sounds intriguing.

Just got into Chitown...I'm so excited to be here! :)

Hi Katy. John and I spent some time last night checking out your blog. What a wonderful thing you are doing in keeping this journal, for others and for yourself! Thank you so much to you and your family for introducing yourselves to us yesterday evening in Holland. It was really nice to meet you and to see you and your sister both so big and grown up and doing so well:-) Best of luck on your ventures! I'd love to hear about your plans for college - have you both decided what you will study?

I hope that Holland and Eden are able to find role models and friends in their life (especially those teen years) who will be as kind and introspective as you seem to be! Keep up the good work!
Billie

Have a great holiday!

The best camera is your memory.

Hooray about the car.

What do your Mexican fiestas contain?

Wanted to tell you more about My Left Foot. Christy Brown had a very supportive family, too, especially his mother and his brother. The brother helped him transcribe his autobiography. He had to stop writing with his left foot after a while.

(He was born in the 1920s in Dublin, Ireland, and died in 1981. Daniel Day-Lewis plays him in the movie, but I recommend that you read the book first!)

Have a great time in Chicago!
